Merry Christmas 2013

As is our tradition every year at Babyfoodsteps, we like to make homemade non-toxic gifts and share the recipe with you all!

This year we made quite a few of these Santa Soaps (from our 2011 post!) to give to friends, neighbors, and teachers!

For 2013 we are adding Toilet Bombs!! What you may ask is a toilet bomb?

Well I got the idea from Pinterest (where else!!)… and here is the recipe:

  • 2 cups baking soda
  • 1 – 2 cups distilled water (or you can boil your water.)
  • Peppermint or Cinnamon essential oil (or whatever oil you choose.)
  •  muffin pan or silicon Christmas mold

Add a 10 drops of essential oil to approximately 1/2 cup water. Pour the water/oil mixture into the baking soda and mix well. Continue to add water until you have a THICK paste. Then divide the mixture into your molds. Let dry 24 to 48 hours until completely hardened.

I wrapped mine in plastic bags and tied them with some left over ribbon!!

To set off your toilet BOMB… just put 2-3 cups vinegar in your toilet bowl and then drop one in!! No need to scrub too hard because the bubbles and fizzing should do the trick! Great way to get the kids to clean the toilet!

Also… you can put them in the bottom of your garbage can or diaper pail for a long-lasting (1-2 month) deodorizer!!

Enjoy! We wish you all the merriest of Christmas and health and HOPE in the NEW YEAR!
